THE NATIONAL AVIARY in Pittsburgh affords the opportunity to approach birds in ways they'd never tolerate in the wild. I went there a few weeks ago because I had a new lens—a Nikkor 18mm-300mm zoom—that I wanted to try out. But got this image with a prime on my alternate camera. Makes my neck stiff just looking at him.
